TrackDaze at NJMP Thunderbolt was a success !
Renntag Racing rolled into South Jersey, just outside Millville, with the TrackDaze crew mid afternoon on Friday June 11. Porsche Club was still active on Lightning Raceway. The weather was perfect.
A short staff meeting, classroom and registration set up and the tech crew ready to go, we were a go. Drivers started to file in and the event was starting.

Thunderbolt is a highspeed course offering sweeping corners and slight elevation changes that complement the larger cars. Be careful in the devil, the most deceiving part of the course.
After Saturday morning's driver's meeting, the instructor session started with the roar of some sweet hardware. Novice students were in class to get information about their first session out on track. Just after lunch there was enough time for Colin to get some time on track before afternoon classes. By the end of the day the Track Daze crew all got a chance to beat on the Lemons car. The TrackDaze of Thunder VW Golf was still having clutch issues, slipping above 4K rpm under load.
Saturday completed without issue, and Sunday brought the threat of rain.
Keeping a close eye on the radar, it looked like we might be pulling out umbrellas late in the day. The early humidity burned off and we had a hot sunny day.
Problems were limited to a Subaru with a slight oil leak, a Lotus popped a radiator hose, A Corvette had a coil pack failure, and a Honda had an unknown mechanical.
The paddock had lots of sweet machines. A few Porsches and a small army of Corvettes were on hand. No event is complete with out a few miatas, Mustangs, BMWs, and a couple from Lotus. A Ferrari, a Shelby Cobra CSX continuation Cobra, and a new Challenger were unique mention.
Colin was able to take out Frank Pinkney's well prepared 260Z and have some fun. Thanks Frank !
The rain missed us dumping just to the north. The drive home was brutal as it seemed everyone and their mother was heading south from jersey.
We are looking forward to returning to Thunderbolt next year. Be sure to join us.
